Blockchain Education

Blockchain Education

BL4SG is training a new generation of lawyers to think about blockchain technology in a balanced way. By educating law students, lawyers, and legislators about blockchain’s potential to level the playing field in an inclusive way, BL4SG is helping to define this space in the legal profession.

BL4SG is pushing the industry forward, promoting a more balanced regulatory scheme as well as a more diverse and inclusive environment for blockchain technology in the United States.

BL4SG has also launched the “Filecoin Foundation for the Decentralized Web Teaching Fellow” program. The selected fellow will be a J.D. graduate with strong academic
credentials and blockchain law experience who is pursuing a path toward full-time academia.

BL4SG CONF

BL4SG CONF

The inaugural Algorand Foundation Blockchain Law for Social Good Conference was hosted by the Blockchain Law for Social Good Center on October 20-21, 2022.
The conference hosted lawyers, lawmakers, law students, and industry developers from around the country. Together we unpacked ideas about socially beneficial projects using blockchain technology. BL4SG CONF also hosted a workshop with California policymakers to consider new ways of applying regulatory efforts in support of blockchain technology for social good.

Government Trainings

Government Trainings

Legislative debate around blockchain and cryptocurrency in the summer of 2021 revealed a problem: lawmakers do not understand blockchain technology and its potential. Lawmakers should understand that blockchain technology can have socially beneficial impacts in areas beyond cryptocurrency. Indeed, blockchain use cases are already changing a wide range of industries, from digital identities for refugees to sustainable reuse of recycled fabrics.

BL4SG offers the first cohesive approach to training lawyers, lawmakers, and other members of our communities about the numerous socially beneficial use cases of blockchain technology. On average, the center hosts workshops for one to three government offices per quarter, offering neutral, academic-style training tailored to the needs of the office.
Training and Research Partnerships:

Educator Trainings

Educator Trainings

The blockchain education program is designed for community college professors in Year 1 and high school teachers and other educators in Years 2 and 3. It will equip educators to articulate the advantages of blockchain technology.

The initial cycle of this “train the trainer” program will occur in the Bay Area. Graduates of the program will engage in mentorship relationships with future participants, thus building a statewide community of professors with expertise in decentralized technologies.
